This week’s photo challenge from the Daily Post was to pick the best photos to tell the story of your year. Looking back, I actually had a pretty eventful year, starting with the birth of Kuya’s Notebook in January (Chinese New Year) and ending with a white Christmas with lots in between!

The photos below are a quick glance at what my 2012 was like. What was your year like?

January (Chinese New Year): Started Kuya’s Notebook.

March: Jude got his playhouse from Make-A-Wish.

April: Visited San Antonio, found Instagram, and fell in love with photography.

May: First year Jude was eligible for the Children’s Cancer Fund Fashion Show.

May: Graduated from 8th grade.

May: Got Richard the Rhino, my “writing buddy.”

June: Tried Camp NaNoWriMo with Jude.

June: Took a culinary arts class at DECATS and found an interest in food and cooking.

June: Won Camp NaNoWriMo with Jude on the very last day.

July: Traveled to Los Angeles to see family.

July: Became a dual citizen of the Philippines in Los Angeles.

July: Went to Disneyland and relived the happiest place on Earth.

July: Visited San Francisco.

July: Flew out to New York City for three days.

July: Ate my heart out in New York City.

September: Waited six hours to get the iPhone 5 on release day.

September: Tried food trucks for the first time with A-.

October: Nominated for the Spirit of Tom Landry Character Award (will be awarded in February 2013).

October: Experienced freshman homecoming and the weird yet fun Texas homecoming traditions.

November: Wrote 50,000 words for NaNoWriMo with Jude (who wrote 6000 words)… and won.

November: Got interested in politics, right before President Obama’s reelection. (Picture taken in Sacramento, CA in July, this is my uncle’s mug!)

November: Had a weekend getaway at the Great Wolf Lodge.

December: Set out to experience Dallas in a new way (photo of sticky rice at Malai Kitchen in Dallas).

December: Fell in love with Trader Joe’s in an attempt to eat healthier (these are their peppermint macarons).

December: Shot an interview with Fox News for the Spirit of Tom Landry Character Award.

December: Spent a little time in Austin, Texas, eating at food trucks and some great restaurants! (Photo of french toast at Austin Java.)

December: Got a Nikon D5100 from my parents. I’m hoping to use it well and improve my photography!

December: Dallas experienced a white Christmas for the first time in my life.

December: Enjoyed the Christmas snow in Dallas.

December: Tried making my first vegan meal in preparation for a vegetarian 2013.
